From f19eba54cc4a352e49f970a23e1c1adb802fcdef Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Protesilaos Stavrou Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2019 10:39:12 +0300 Subject: [PATCH] Remove Terminus from "Monospace" alias This is important to fix the rendering of monospaced fonts by applications that set an arbitrary point size and/or do not respect system-wide aliasing rules. Web browsers are the greatest offenders in large part because many websites are poorly designed. Terminus is a fixed-size (bitmap) font that does not scale well. It is better to explicitly define that font as the default in text editors or other contexts where we have full control over its presentation (since Terminus _is_ a superb typeface). --- fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/45-latin.conf | 4 ---- fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-latin.conf | 3 +-- 2 files changed, 1 insertion(+), 6 deletions(-) diff --git a/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/45-latin.conf b/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/45-latin.conf index ed8b671c..e30d24f9 100644 --- a/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/45-latin.conf +++ b/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/45-latin.conf @@ -36,10 +36,6 @@ - - Terminus - monospace - Monoid monospace diff --git a/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-latin.conf b/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-latin.conf index 90b7509e..6c7429da 100644 --- a/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-latin.conf +++ b/fontconfig/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-latin.conf @@ -31,9 +31,8 @@ monospace - Terminus - Monoid Hack + Monoid DejaVu Sans Mono
