The manuals in doc/emacs, doc/lispintro and doc/lispref have no
translations, so filtering the per-directory language list by DOCLANGS
left those directories with nothing to build when DOCLANGS does not
include 'default'. These three manuals must be built and installed
regardless of DOCLANGS: the Emacs and Emacs Lisp manuals are
referenced from doc strings, and the Introduction to Emacs Lisp
Programming is an important enough part of Emacs to be available
whatever the language preferences of the user who builds the manuals.
* Makefile.in (MANDATORY_DOC_DIRS): New variable.
(FILTER_DOCLANGS): Use it to always build the default language for
those directories.
(INFO_NONMISC, srcdir_doc_info_dir_inputs): Say why these are not
gated by DOCLANGS.
* doc/translations/README: Document that those three manuals are
always built in the default language.
With DOCLANGS='default fr', the top-level doc targets ran a sub-make
in every doc directory once per language. The Makefiles of the
directories without translations (emacs, lispintro, lispref) ignore
DOCLANG, so the non-default sub-make repeated the default-language
build, and under "make -j" two sub-makes produced the same outputs
concurrently, failing intermittently with:
cp: cannot create regular file '../../info/cons-2a.txt': File exists
* Makefile.in (FILTER_DOCLANGS): New function: languages from
DOCLANGS to build for a doc directory, the default language when
present in DOCLANGS plus every language that has translations for
this directory (doc/translations/<lang>/<dir>). Do not force the
default language when DOCLANGS omits it. Suggested by Vincent
Belaiche <vincentb1@users.sourceforge.net>.
(MAKE_DOC): Take the list of languages as a second argument and use
it instead of DOCLANGS.
The previous bug#81332 fix made info/dir depend on doc/misc/NAME.texi
names derived from INFO_COMMON. For the manuals whose source is .org
(modus-themes, org), these .texi files are generated and do not exist
in a fresh checkout, and there is no rule to build them at this level,
so building Emacs fails with:
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'doc/misc/modus-themes.texi',
needed by 'info/dir'. Stop.
* Makefile.in (srcdir_doc_info_dir_inputs): For the default language,
depend on the actual sources reported by doc/misc echo-sources
(texi_misc_default), which lists .org sources for the org-based
manuals; make-info-dir extracts dir entries from both formats.
(GET_DOC_SRC): Only handle translated languages; drop the mapping of
default translation names to doc/misc .texi names.
* doc/translations/default/misc/info_common.mk,
* doc/translations/fr/misc/info_common.mk: Moved to `misc'
subdirectory, in order to account that `INFO_COMMON' content
depends on the subdirectory.
* doc/misc/Makefile.in: `info_common.mk' is moved.
* Makefile.in (GET_DOC_SRC): `info_common.mk' is moved and
`srcdir_doc_info_dir_inputs' computation is fixed with correct
conversion of default translation path.

Remove our old ctags and suggest Universal Ctags instead.
This fixes a FIXME in lib-src/Makefile.in and speeds up compilation
quite a bit on my older CPU when I compile with --enable-gcc-warnings.

1. Prefer "native-compiled" to "native compiled".
The adjective "native-compiled" with the hyphen is generally more
consistent with the typical pattern in English, especially when the
compound modifies a noun (e.g., "native-compiled code").
2. Prefer "natively compiled" to "natively-compiled".
The adverb "natively" modifies "compiled", and it is standard not
to hyphenate an adverb + adjective combination when the adverb ends
in -ly (e.g., "code that is natively compiled").
For example, note that we say "high-speed internet" but "highly
performant code".

Using hard-coded display values can cause PGTK graphical frames to
open using the wrong backend or not open at all.
