guard is what holds it to the clicked line) — a click should select where you point, and it keeps the
"click a context line, press `e`" path working. **No tests** (prototype tweaks the user is feeling out; may
change). User's verdict on part 1 after manual testing: "feels much better, I like it a lot."
Two follow-up bugs the testing surfaced, both fixed (no tests, prototype):
3. **First cross-pane click dropped hunk mode** (`04de0384e`). Clicking the *other* main pane (the staged
side you weren't focused on) selected a single line the first time even in hunk mode, because that pane's
`DiffSelectState` was still its default until it had been focused once — tabbing to it and back was the
workaround the user found. Fix: `onClickInOtherViewOfMainViewPair` now copies the leaving pane's
`DiffSelectState` to the clicked pane before `selectClickedDiffLine` runs, so the very first click there
behaves like every later one. (The two panes keep independent select state; this seeds the target.)
4. **A selection's far end not preserved across a pager switch** (`0e53b3785`).
`PreserveDiffPositionOnRerender` restored the cursor by patch identity but left the selection's *other* end
(the range anchor) pinned to its old view line; a restructuring pager (normal delta → delta **side-by-side**
is the clear repro) then left the selection spanning the wrong patch lines. Fix (general, not hunk-specific
— the user pushed for this): remember the far end by patch identity too (`selectionFarEndIdentity`, the
range anchor opposite the cursor) and put it back via `SetRangeSelectStart` after the re-render, found by
`findDiffLine` (a `findResolvedDiffLine` + `matchByPatchLine` lookup, which works for context ends as well
as change ends). So **one** mechanism restores both ends and covers hunk *and* range/sticky selections —
no `reselectHunkOnRerender` fixup, no callback param; `PreserveDiffPositionOnRerender(view)` stays
single-arg. If the far end didn't survive the re-render it collapses to the single cursor line. Both callers
(pager cycle `onPagerChanged`, `-U` context-size change) get it for free. **Scope unchanged:** only the
primary (`Normal`) pane is preserved on a pager switch (both callers pass `Contexts().Normal.GetView()`), so
a selection on the *focused secondary* pane still isn't preserved — a pre-existing, broader gap (its scroll
isn't preserved either), left as-is.
